Conservative Treatment


  • Moist Heat Packs or Paraffin for Pain Management
    • 2 times a day
    • 10-15 minute sessions. 
  • Immobilization Splints to reduce the load and stresses for the wrist and hand. 
    • Wrist Support Brace
    • Thumb Spica Splint
  • Activity Modification to Prevent overuse or over exertion (which causes pain)
    • Reflect on any activity that causes your symptoms to increase.
    • Modify that activity to decrease the impact on your hand or wrist. 
      • Use adaptive equipment:
        • Larger handles for knives, tools, etc.
        • Jar openers
        • Adaptive Key Holders
  • Focus on Gentle Range of Motion!
    • It is important to stretch to maintain joint health!
    • Wrist and digit Range of Motion
      • Gentle active and passive stretches for the joints.
