Conservative Treatment
- Moist Heat Packs or Paraffin for Pain Management
- 2 times a day
- 10-15 minute sessions.
- Immobilization Splints to reduce the load and stresses for the wrist and hand.
- Wrist Support Brace
- Thumb Spica Splint
- Activity Modification to Prevent overuse or over exertion (which causes pain)
- Reflect on any activity that causes your symptoms to increase.
- Modify that activity to decrease the impact on your hand or wrist.
- Use adaptive equipment:
- Larger handles for knives, tools, etc.
- Jar openers
- Adaptive Key Holders
- Focus on Gentle Range of Motion!
- It is important to stretch to maintain joint health!
- Wrist and digit Range of Motion
- Gentle active and passive stretches for the joints.
