Protocol

  • The main objectives are to reduce inflammation and improve mobility.
    • Heat will help improve the soft tissue mobility taking pressure off of the ulnar nerve.
    • Wear a brace at night to prevent yourself from flexing your elbow past 30 degrees. Flexing the elbow causes increased pressure on the ulnar nerve, which causes more inflammation and pain.
    • Use ice packs at night after using the elbow all day, this will help reduce the inflammation in the medial elbow.
      • Take the ice pack off as soon as you feel numbness to prevent nerve damage.
    • Limit activities that involve high frequency repetitive flexion of the elbow to allow the nerve to recover!
  • Increase activity gradually as pain continues to subside. Be persistent, this can take 4-6 weeks before symptoms subside completely. If they continue return to your doctor.
